Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was the co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of Apple Inc.

Here's a time line of Steve Jobs's life:

  • 1955 - Born in San Francisco, California, U.S.
  • 1972 - Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon
  • 1974 - Jobs traveled to India to visit Neem Karoli Baba at his Kainchi ashram with his Reed friend (and eventual Apple employee) Daniel Kottke, in search of spiritual enlightenment.
  • 1975 - Jobs began attending meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club with Wozniak
  • 1977 - Jobs and Wozniak introduced the Apple II at the West Coast Computer Faire.
  • 1978 - Apple recruited Mike Scott from National Semiconductor to serve as CEO for what turned out to be several turbulent years.
  • 1983 - Jobs lured John Sculley away from Pepsi-Cola to serve as Apple's CEO
  • 1985 - Jobs turned in a letter of resignation to the Apple Board.
  • 1988 - The NeXT computer was shown to the world at what was considered Jobs's comeback event,a lavish (invitation only) gala launch event and was described as a multimedia extravaganza.
  • 1990 - Second generation NeXTcube was released
  • 1993 - NeXT transitioned fully to software development with the release of NeXTSTEP/Intel
  • 1996 - NeXT Software, Inc. released WebObjects, a framework for Web application development
  • 1997 - Jobs became de facto chief after then-CEO Gil Amelio was ousted
  • 1998 - To concentrate Apple's efforts on returning to profitability, Jobs terminated a number of projects, such as Newton, Cyberdog, and OpenDoc
  • 2005 - Jobs responded to criticism of Apple's poor recycling programs for e-waste in the US by lashing out at environmental and other advocates at Apple's annual meeting in Cupertino in April
  • 2007 - Apple entered the cellular phone business with the introduction of the iPhone
  • 2011 - Jobs died at his Palo Alto, California home around 3 p.m. (PDT) on October 5, 2011, because of complications from a relapse of his previously treated islet-cell neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer,resulting in respiratory arrest.
